NET 2021 will contain two types of events. Registration for both events is done through the registration form above.
Competitive events include the team-based written Power Round and the Economics Bowl oral relay.
Registration for competitive events is on a first-come, first-serve basis, so encourage your team to register ASAP!
For competitive events, there is a hard cap of 10 teams per division (20 teams total), with a waitlist of 5 additional teams per division.
Each team must consist of 4 students (and one optional alternate) from the same high school, and each school may send only 1 team.
Educational events include our professor talks, graduate students talks, and the undergraduate panel.
Schools that registered after the competitive event cap has filled can still send participants to the educational events.
After the registration window closes on February 19, schools that have registered a team for competitive events can register additional students for the educational events.
There are two options for registration. Both registration options are available through the form above. Registration for competitive events will be processed in the order that they are received, pending space. Each school should only register for one option:
Option 1: Register for competitive events + educational events:
School registers through an advisor, sends a team of 4 students (and one optional alternate) plus advisor.
Option 2: Register for educational events only
School registers through an advisor and should indicate how many students they expect to attend.
Each team must have a faculty member or parentas their advisor.
competitive events - tournament tracks
To make NET a learning experience accessible to all, this year our competitive events will be administered in two parallel tracks:
The Milgrom Division is designed for contestants with little or no prior experience in studying economics/calculus.
The Wilson Division is designed for contestants who have more background in studying economics/calculus.
High schools that offer AP or IB Economics classes (or other college-level equivalents) should select the Wilson Division during registration.
Schools may only send one team, and at this point schools cannot register multiple teams in different divisions.
Schools will select their division during registration.
All schools should provide the following information:
School information (name, location, timezone)
Advisor name and contact information (email & phone number)
Schools registering for educational events only should provide:
An estimate of how many students from your school who are expected to attend. This is not a final number, we're just looking for an approximation for planning purposes.
Schools registering for both competitive and educational events should provide:
Participant names and contact information (emails) for:
One team captain
Three additional team members
One alternate (optional)
