Undergraduate Advising

• Advising questions that do not require a full meeting can be sent to econBA@northwestern.edu.
• You do not need to make an appointment to petition to graduate. Please follow the directions here.
• You do need to make an appointment to declare the Economics major or minor (forms linked here).
• Please email the advisor any forms they need to sign prior to your meeting, including the major and minor forms.
• Please see Professor Witte for information regarding honors, the BA/MA program, study abroad, transfer credit, as well as general Economics advising.
• Each advising appointment is 10 minutes. We encourage you to book back-to-back appointments for more time. 
• First-year students seeking advising should contact the Department's advisor for first-year students, Professor James Hornsten. You can also visit the First Year Students section of the website.

For study abroad approvals, any course NOT already included on the list of previously approved study abroad courses must be discussed with Professor Witte. If your study abroad plan includes course(s) on the list, you may speak with any advisor.

If you are unable to meet with Professor Witte during his advising hours, please email him directly to set up another time to meet.
