Basque Country has never looked brighter as Department of Economics Professor Charles Manski took the stage on June 18, 2026 to receive the 2026 BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Award in Economics, Finance and Management.

Charles ManskiProf. Manski received the award in recognition of his pioneering contributions to understanding and measuring uncertainty in economic research and public policy. The award honors Manski's decades-long work developing methods that help researchers draw more credible conclusions from incomplete or imperfect evidence, fundamentally reshaping how economists evaluate data and inform policy decisions.

A professor of economics at Northwestern since 1997, Prof. Manski has had a profound influence on fields ranging from education and health care to labor markets and social policy. The award committee described him as a "foundational figure" in modern econometrics whose work has encouraged economists to acknowledge uncertainty rather than overstate confidence in their findings. By advancing more transparent and reliable approaches to empirical research, Manski has helped strengthen the evidence base for public policy and earned recognition as one of the field's leading methodological innovators.

Congratulations, Chuck, on this incredible achievement!
