Joel Horowitz retired at the end of the 2025-26 academic year. In spring of 2025, the Center for Econometrics held a conference in his honor.

Joel Horowitz retired at the end of the 2025-26 academic year. In spring of 2025, the Center for Econometrics held a conference in his honor.

Professor Manski received the prestigious award from the the BBVA Foundation in recognition of his pioneering work in "Deep Uncertainty."

Since arriving at Northwestern in fall 2025, Prof. Abi Adams, Director of the Morton Schapiro Center for Applied Microeconomics, has built a robust community of faculty, students, and scholars.

In March, Nobel Laureate and Northwestern Ph.D. alum Peter Howitt '73 returned to campus to speak to the next generation of economics students and faculty.

In April, Nobel Laureate Michael Kremer visited campus to speak about "Narrative, Ritual, and Identity."

In May, current faculty, alumni, family, and friends gathered to honor the spectacular career of Prof. Joel Mokyr.

Congratulations to the class of 2026! This year we celebrated with a senior awards ceremony including remarks from Professors Mark Witte, Jeffrey Ely, Gaston Illanes, James Hornsten, and Robert Coen.
Our undergraduate students have have kept busy this year through involvement in student organizations, on-campus activities, and pursuing academic excellence!

We wish all of our graduate students success as they continue their teaching and research pursuits at fine institutions and firms throughout the world.
Our department is looking forward to welcoming our incoming class to the Ph.D. program in the fall!

The Department has many exciting events happening this fall including the Northwestern-Toulouse School of Economics Conference hosted by the Center for the Study of Industrial Organization (CSIO) in September, a Northwestern stop on the Review of Economic Studies (REStud) Tour in October, and a conference on 250 Year of Capitalism hosted by the Center for Economic History in October.
