Undergraduate Advising
UES-WiE Upperclass COFFEE CHATS
The Undergraduate Economics Society (UES), in conjunction with Womxn in Economics (WiE), has launched weekly coffee chats for first and second year students to drop in and receive guidance from juniors and seniors on classes, activities, academia, internship recruiting, and more. WiE will offer special sessions for womxn-identifying economics students to seek guidance from junior and senior womxn, discuss gender-based challenges and issues in the field, and engage in a supportive space.
Similar to a typical office-hour, students with questions about an array of topics may consult with an experienced junior or senior about a topic or industry. Potential Coaching Topics:
- Recruiting Strategy (Finance, Consulting, Tech, etc.)
- Navigating Academic Rigor (study strategies, planning)
- Identifying Career Interests
- Resume/Cover Letter Review
- Interview/Networking Preparation
- General Advice
Please note, these sessions are not a substitute for meeting with a faculty/staff academic Economics advisor regarding these topics. These sessions are to supplement the advising students are receiving and provide students with a unique opportunity to receive guidance from a peer.
